SINKS

How do I select my sink?

Ans. It depends on the size available in the kitchen platform. You should also consider the bowl size and depth of the sink. If you have enough space, you can go in for bowl with drain board model or double bowl models or double bowl with drain board models. Alternatively if the area is small you can choose single bowl sink. Deeper and wider bowls are also available based on your requirement. In case you are using single bowl sink, sloping can be given to the counter top to act as a drain board. The standard thickness of SS sink is 1mm. They are also available in 0.8mm or lesser thickness.

What is the steel type?

Ans. Normally sinks are made of AISI 304 18/8(18% CHROME & 8 % NICKEL). Less budget sinks are also available in selected models where in the nickel content is lower than 2%.In both the steel types proper maintenance and usage is mandatory. No acid or strong chemicals / solutions to be used to clean/maintain the sink. If such solutions accidentally fall into the sink, clean with fresh water immediately.

How do I maintain my sink?

Ans. Frequent and regular cleaning. Clean, dry and expose your sink to room temperature when not in use. Keep your sink free of any standing water and do not allow any mineral deposits. High iron content water can cause brown surface stain. Remove dirt and lime scale deposits on a regular basis. Steel wool or abrasive pads should not be used to clean your sink. Do not leave any mild steel, rusty articles or cast iron cookware on the sink for extended periods of time. Do not leave rubber dish mats, wet sponges or cleaning pads in the sink overnight. Household products, bleach or foodstuff, containing chlorine and silver dip cleaners and cleaning products containing sulphuric / hydrochloric acid are potentially harmful to your sink. Accidental contacts with photographic chemicals or soldering fluxes should be rinsed immediately. Pickles, mayonnaise, mustard and salt laden foodstuff should not be left on the sink for a long period. Do not use your sink as a cutting surface. Do not put mild steel, metallic, hard material and tools on / in the sink during installation / interior decoration. Gas / vapour from open bottles of bleach or chemical cleaners in the cabinet could damage the underside of the sink. Do not let cement (ordinary or white) to deposit on the sink after installation. Remove lacquer sheet only after installation.

Should I buy bidding sink or border sink?

Ans. Bidding sinks are normally fixed between the granite and surface below (Sandwich) so that the granite moulding can be done to give a better finish to your kitchen. Border sinks can be used as lay on sinks or in level to the top surface of the counter top.

Is dry installation possible?

Ans. It is possible with Blanco sinks. The Blanco sinks come with clips and water sealant tape. Hence dry installation is possible in Blanco sinks.

TILES

How do I select the size of the tile?

Ans. The size of the tile depends on the size of the room. If the room is small you need to go for a smaller size tile, if the room is large you can use larger formats.

Should I buy ceramic/porcelain /vitrified tile?

Ans. The type of the tile depends on the kind of traffic it needs to handle. For residential even a ceramic tile can be used. For high traffic areas like mall, shopping complex vitrified tile can be used. Porcelain tile can be used in medium traffic areas like offices, etc.

Can these tiles be used in the terrace?

Ans. Tiles can be used in terrace provided they are laid with spacers to accommodate expansion or contractions

Can I use the tiles for parking?

Ans. Porcelain tile or vitrified tile with extra thickness and better compression strength can be used in parking. Check specifically in this regard.

How do I maintain my tiles?

Ans. After the tiles are laid fillers should not be used immediately to grout the tiles. Only after 24 hours of installation the fillers are to be grouted. Tiles should be cleaned only with soft detergent or water only. Acid or strong chemicals should not be used to clean the tiles.

How do I place the order of my tiles?

Ans. You need to calculate the area coverage of the tiles and add 3-5% towards wastage and buy them in single lot, since size and shade variations are inheritant features of tiles.

Can I buy tiles in smaller lots?

Ans. Tiles should be bought in one single lot for your entire requirement, since size and shade variations are inheritant features of tiles. Hence before laying tiles all the tiles should be inspected. After laying any complaints regarding shade and size variations are not entertained.

Can the tiles be transported safely?

Ans. Tiles if they are not transported properly are subject to breakage in transit. The tiles have to be stacked vertically to minimise the transit damage. While shipping the tiles, we ensure that only good condition tiles are loaded. To mitigate any loss due to breakage or damage of tiles during transit customers should make their own insurance arrangements to claim any damages.

GRATINGS

What type of grating do I use?

Ans. Gratings depends on the type of drain pipes provided. If there is enough depth provided you can use anti-cockroach grating, if the budget is less then you can use normal gratings.

Should I put square or round grating?

Ans. Square or round depends on the aesthetic choice. Practically square gratings are easy to install because tile cutting is easy.

Should I go for flat cut or regular cut?

Ans. By using Flat cut grating jointing’s are neater.

How do I select the size of the grating?

Ans. The size of the grating depends on the outlet size. If pipe outlet is 4″ you require 5″ grating.

If I use rain shower what type of gratings can I use?

Ans. You should use shower channels which can take larger volumes of water.
